Signs of Appendicitis usually start with abdominal pain. Usually around the belly button first, and then it can move down into the right side kind of low down. The pain can get worse with time, can cause even eventually trouble walking, a lack of appetite, vomiting, fever and then intense pain. If the appendix is ruptured, sometimes children actually feel relief for a short while, but the problem with that is the fluid inside the appendix that has come out, puts them in higher risk for infection and complications and if that were to happen they might actually need antibiotics before surgery to repair the appendix. The tricky thing about appendicitis is that if you have a child less than 2 or a child that can't talk to you about their pain yet, you can easily miss appendicitis and often time kids on that age group are already ruptured before the time they seek medical attention. If you suspect that your child is having an abdominal pain or is getting worse with time, you should see your doctor right away because ruptured appendicitis can be life threatening.
