Solar electric power is something that I wanted since i was a teenager, but it was out of my price range. When I started in 1970, it was something I further aspired to. I wasn't able to afford it until 1990, that's 23 years ago now, but it took me quite a while to save up the money for that. And they were kind of expensive back in 1990. Well they're cheaper now. If you can afford to buy a solar system for your house, there are companies that lease them to you, different companies like Sungevity, Solar City, many other people that lease you solar panels on your roof. Now, if you're handy, you can go to RealGoods.com or go to different hardware stores and buy solar panels and inverter kits and put them up to have a small amount of solar on your rooftop, or a large amount if you're very handy. So what solar does is it captures electricity from the sun. It captures the photons, turn them into electrons, puts them through a box called an inverter that gives you usable AC power that you can plug different appliances into, that's the way it works. So you can get a bid from a local solar supplier in your area, just look up Solar Los Angeles, Solar Electric Milwaukee, Solar Electric Phoenix, and you will find local - many different vendors who will sell you a solar system. You'll get bids from different people and go with the cheapest bids. But again, if you can afford to buy a solar system that is a lot cheaper today with the state and local and federal subsidies, you can often lease it - get a solar lease where you can save a lot of money and have a fixed rate for up to 20 years where you're locked in to good electric rates. So there's many reasons to do solar.
