When thinking about cookware, the most important thing is to avoid Teflon, which is used for most non-stick cookware. Teflon is made from an ingredient called PSTE, which is a hazardous and toxic chemical and of gases when it's heated. Best alternative would be to use glass. So pirax and those baking dishes are also very good or stainless steel. Another great alternative is cast iron and there are many great cast iron options that are available at very reasonable prices. And not all non-stick is necessarily bad. It's just important when you are looking at the ingredients to make sure that, whatever the way it is treated, to be non-stick, is not from a toxic chemical such as Teflon.
