The drugstore game is what we couponers call the instant rebate programs that are available at CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid.
Basically, how these work is that there are items that are out advertised in the weekly sales flyers each week, that will produce instant rebates. For instance, there might be a tube of toothpaste, that if you bought this tube of toothpaste for $3.99, you would get an instant rebate back, for $3.99. So, you buy it and this rebate prints out. You can use that rebate as a gift certificate at the store, to buy something else.
If you take that rebate and buy something the next week that produces another instant rebate, you are going to significantly lower your out-of-pocket expenses. You can also use coupons with these items to get items for more than free. If you do this over time, you can get hundreds of dollars of household products for free or for pennies on the dollar.
