If you're worried that your kids won't turn out okay because you work, please relax. Recent studies show that, although working mother's of young children score slightly lower on cognitive tests, factors like moms more likely to seek high-quality childcare and displaying greater responsiveness to their kid, offset this risk. While the adult kids say that they sometimes felt neglected or embarrassed that other moms were around all the time and theirs worked, their moms were always there for them when they always needed them. The adult kids also told us their moms modeled a strong independence and it worked so well for them. Still, working moms can get stressed.
