So, as a working mom, business trips can be very stressful because leaving the family for three days during the school week is very hard, right? But there are things you can do to minimize that stress. One is not doing it spur of the moment. Tell your kids a few days in advance that you're going to be traveling and that they will be in good hands with either their dad or their aunt or a nanny, who ever it is that they are in good hands. So making them feel confident about it. Not talking too much about your guilt because if they know that mom is going somewhere, to do something that's important and she's proud off they'll feel better about your trip. And also, you want to prepare as much as possible. So telling the teachers in advance that you're going to be away so that, may be they don't give extra homework that night or they're a little easier on your child. They give them a little more TLC at school. And also, recently I went away and my husband got very upset with me. He said,"I prepared like a four page manifesto of every detail that needed to happen" and he said you're setting me up for failure. Teach me these things in advance so that every time you are away I just know what to do. And it's so true. If you teach your team, whether it's your spouse or your nanny, what to do when you're gone then every business trip will be a lot easier.
