Being a stay-at-home dad has been beneficial for my two children and I in so many ways. I think the main thing, really, is that instead of just being dad, that person that's in his office or on the couch watching TV, they've really gotten to know me as a person, as more than just 'dad.' And I can relate to them emotionally, psychologically. I can be there at all their milestones and they know that I'm there for them on all those levels. My son especially, because he deals with a lot of male-specific issues, and so I can deal with him there. And for my daughter, she can see that ultimately she can just deal with men and boys on a normal level and it doesn't have to be this big, scary thing. So that's the main reason why it's been beneficial.

Scott LenzStay-at-Home Dad
Scott Lenz was born in Lewisberg, Pennsylvania. By the time he reached 9th grade, he had been to eight schools, which explains a lot about his social awkwardness. However, his wife Suzanne and two kids - Jaron, 13 and Georgia, 10 - went to less than five schools combined, so it all evens out.
He was the original rat mascot for Chuck E. Cheese, and since then has been a record store manager, music journalist, television documentarian and, most recently and importantly, a stay-at-home dad. His single greatest hope is that ABBA will one day reunite.
