I did not find it to be more difficult for my children to accept the new relationship that was a same sex relationship; it was a woman. I didn't feel like i was replacing their father.
Bringing another woman into the relationship, they didn't feel like their father was as threatened. Partly because their father was accepting and we all became friends. He played a big part in that and my new relationship never tried to be their new parent. I think that helped.
