My favorite tip for organizing holiday items is to use colored bins. Oftentimes holiday items are stored in the garage or the attic among a sea of other things. And to instantly identify something, we make it stick out by using color to designate what's inside.
But if you don't want to go out and buy colored bins, that is totally fine. You're just going to want make sure that you're heavily labeling things so that when you're looking for something you can find it.
I really like to pair storing stuff like this with an index, maybe kept on the computer. And again, it does not have to be over-complicated. I like to keep things as simple as possible. So maybe a quick list. And since you have your phone with you all the time, maybe even taking a quick snapshot of what's stored in the box and keeping along with that list.
And when we're talking about holiday items, I think it's so important to get rid of anything that's broken or maybe that is out of style, something that you wouldn't use anymore. It's always important when you bring those things out year after year to purge, just as you would anything else.
