The more that we learned about open adoption – and as we went through the process – any fears or preconceptions that we had about it, they all went away. The more that you get to know your birth mother, the more that they get to know you, and all the safe guards that are put into place, you realize that it’s truly healthy relationship that you’re building with your birth mom and that the process is there to protect you, to protect the child and to protect your birth parents.
