If you skip a nap, it's not the end of the world. Just don't do it every day, because children obviously need their sleep. But if you skip a nap totally, and it's no nap or what else, whatever that day, bring the bedtime an hour earlier. So if your child's currently going to sleep at 7, bring it back to 6pm. Therefore, he'll get more sleep in before midnight which is the golden hour of sleep. Then, he should sleep later in the morning by at least half an hour as well. Therefore, you're catching up the hour and a half nap that he missed. If he come home later for the nap, let's say get home around 2pm, I would put your child down for that nap about 2 and wake him up by 3:30. So at least, he gets an hour and a half in. If you wake him up at 3pm or he wakes up at 3pm because he's going down on late, that's totally fine. Just put him down at 6:30 that night for bedtime, half an hour earlier than usual.
