It's very important for twins to have their own identity in order that they can go on and make intimate, healthy connections as an adult. They must go through a process of not only separating from their twin but also separating from their parents. This will enable them to feel much more fully individuated, and then better much to be in touch with their own feelings, need and desires so that when they're ready to go and look for an intimate relationship, they can find another person who's compatible and loving.
