There's no perfect dating rules for your teen, but here's some things to consider. Number one is start slowly and encourage your child to start slowly. That means don't get so quickly involved in the dating scene. Instead what you want to do is encourage your child to hang out with groups or date in numbers because it actually will slow down the process called S-E-X. Number two, make it a rule and make it firm that you will meet everybody first before your child goes out in that car or on a date. It actually helps your child know that they're being monitored, and the dating partner knows they're being watched as well. Curfews are important so buy into those curfews and make sure that they're part of it. Figure out what works best for you and your family that's based on your child's age and responsibility. And most important rule if you have any other rule is you may not ever entertain your partner in your bedroom. That's the foot-in-the-door technique which means I'll always keep my shoes there. Sexual activity goes up. The number one place your child is most likely to have his first sexual encounter is in his bedroom when you're not there. Monitor. Monitor carefully and enjoy life because life goes by so quickly.
