The best thing you can do to prevent your teenager from becoming a teen parent is to have open and honest communication with them, when it's age appropriate, about sex, because that's how they become parents. And a lot of them become parents because they don't have enough information, they're not getting it in school and they're not getting it at home. So sex education is really important. As a family, you have to decide what your values are. Do you value abstinence? Do you value safe sex? Do you want to talk to your child about both of those things? Personally, I believe you should tell your child about all of their options and then help spend the most time developing them as a strong person to make good decisions, so that when they are in the situations that get heated or would be considered peer pressure, they have the tools that they need to make good decisions for themselves.
