A lot of parents have a lot of difficulty getting their teenagers to do things around the house like chores. Teenagers always say they actually don't always know the chores and the consequences in their house. So the very first thing to do is to sit down with your teenager and make a clear chore system. Ask them, what are chores you like better than others, cause that way at least your involving them in the process of assigning them chores around the house. Second, set up clear consequences. And it might take a little bit of tough love but those first few times if they don't do their chores, they have to have that consequence because that will teach them to self police, to take what they need to do and make sure that they get it done. And they say it takes 21 days to form a habit. So if you can get through those first 21 days or chore and consequence, you're on a good start.
