Transcription:
During adolescence teenagers are neurologically and biologically going through a process of defining their own individuality. This means articulating thoughts and ideas and observations about the world that may feel entirely different and unusual from what is reflected by the media and popular sources in society.
It's extremely important that parents create a open environment for children to express individuality during a time when at school or socially they may feel they need to conform. Having an open environment at home allows the child to cultivate a sense of individuality that may very well be their surviving factor in becoming the young adult that is best suited for the rest of their life.
