We are just discovering how much exercise is necessary for both adults and children. Health and Human Services has a minimum of 150 minutes per week for adults and 200 minutes for children. What we are finding out how much is necessary for different kinds of function: emotional regulation, intellectual stimulation. The best time to do exercise is, I think, in the morning because it prepares you for the rest of the day. It improves your arousal, gets your brain in gear, sparks the brain to get moving, to be involved, to get motivated. So even 10 to 20 minutes in the morning of a regular routine bit of exercise can be very, very helpful.
