Back in the day, the college interview was very important. If you've seen the movie Risky Business, the whole movie is particated on him, having his Princeton interview. It’s not so much that way anymore because they can’t give preference to students who – They don’t have enough people to interview every applicant anymore. So it’s not a crucial part of the application, a lot of schools don’t even offer interviews. So if you don’t have one, it’s totally okay. But if you do have one, you’re going to want to know which type it is, so there’s 2 types. One, informational interviews. Informational interviews is where a student meets with either a student who goes to that school, or an admission’s officer and it’s just a conversation, it’s a get-to-know-you. The notes do not formally get put in that student’s evaluative file. The other type of interview is evaluative where the interviewer will actually take notes and it will actually be part of the evaluation process that the reader goes through to decide whether a student gets in or not. Now, the interviews are basically done the same way, but you should know which ones are evaluative and which ones are informative because it’ll help you prioritize which school you really should interview at if you have to fly across the country.
