The best piece of advice that I can give to any family and I've helped hundreds of kids find the right college whether it's to play a sport or just a college to go to is this; if you are going to be a college athlete, what I tell people is pick a school where if you break your leg the first day, if you get injured and you can never play again, do you still want to go to that school? I see so many people go to a school for a coach and the coach leaves or they go only because of the sport, not the degree they're going to get and the sport doesn't go well. And so four years down the line, they have a degree they don't want and sports were done and they are saying, "Why did I go to that school in the first place?" So, take sports out of the equation when you make that final decision and if your son and your daughter still says, "That is where I would want to be even if I never played soccer again, even if I never played basketball again", then that's a great place to go.
