You want to teach your child to have compassion and to understand differences, but of course, they get nervous when they see a child who looks different, who acts different. So the first thing is teach them to say, "Hello," not to pity them, but just to greet them with kindness.
There's a great story. God makes each human being as their own separate coin, and then God signs it with his personal signature, except every time God uses a different name because there were 80 names for God in the bible, because each person saw God so differently.
So what you want to teach your child is to see that coin, to see that signature, and know that that is perfect in God's eyes and also perfect in your own.
