If he's sleeping at night time, it is totally fine for your four year old to still take a nap. If he's sleeping 10 to 12 hours at night time and 1 to 2 hours during the day, that's ideal. The only time that I would suggest discontinuing the naps is when it starts to affect night time sleep. For example, if he wakes up at 4:00 a.m. and he doesn't want to go back to sleep, then he's taking a 2 hour nap during the daytime. That's not very good. He's taking his sleep throughout the day. Otherwise, I would say continue on with the naps as long as he is sleeping well at night time.
