Many parents ask what their child should be learning in preschool. What they need to remember is each child is different. A child at 3, 4 and 5 is very different from each of those stages. And each child at 3 is different in their own regard. So you should allow your child to learn at their own pace, most importantly. Beyond that, what I also let parents know is academia for me, personally, is the least important part of your child's development from 3 to 5. The ABCs, the 1, 2, 3s, of course are very important and, of course, you should challenge your child with that. And if they hunger for more, please, feed that hunger. But most importantly for a child is social, emotional development – how they feel about themselves, how they feel about their learning process, how they feel about their friends around them and what their friends feel about them. The response that they give to all of those things and how they deal with those feelings are the most important part of your child's development, reason being when academia challenges them in the future and anything else challenges them, the more they know about themselves and that they're comfortable with themselves, the stronger they will be at accomplishing those tasks.
