The best advice that I can offer a parent that is looking for daycare is to be very involved in the search.
Let your employer know that this is something you are doing. You are looking for daycare, and you need the proper time to make sure you find the proper place. You will be a much better employee if you know that your child is somewhere you feel safe with them being.
So it's very important that you go into the daycare, not too early in the morning and not too late in the day; in the middle of the day, when all of the activities are going on. Not at nap time when everyone is sleeping, but when activities are going on so you can see how the provider interacts with the kids.
Make sure you make a list of the most important questions for you. There may be a list you can find online, or you can make up your own; but make sure you get answers to all of those questions. If you go to a daycare and you have a list of questions, and the daycare provider doesn't have time to answer all of your questions; then they are probably not going to have time to deal with your child as you need them to be. You should probably keep searching.
