How can I foster a good relationship with my childcare provider? Your relationship with your childcare provider is one of the most important things for your child to have a successful time at preschool or in the provider's home. It is a relationship. Like any other relationship, it means communication, from the very beginning. When you first meet and interview the provider, or when you first go to the program and visit, you want to have the relationship beginning at that point. One of the things that happens in childcare is you're the parent, and you know the child best. But you may also be coming in with someone who may have more experience than you with more children, have had a lot of education. Don't let that intimidate you. You're a parent and you know. But you also want to respect. Like any communication piece of it, you want to make sure that you're open with your information, and that they will be open with theirs. And that's the beginning to start. And it's ongoing. And that will help with your communication with your childcare provider.
