Some tips for keeping your nanny long term is making sure you have open communication, having a regular meeting with your nanny, talking to them about their thoughts about your children, as well as anything that has come up between you as their employer and them as the nanny. These issues need to be worked out as you go so they don't build up as resentment and start up some sort of other problem. Additionally, your nanny needs to feel appreciated. You can appreciate your nanny every day in lots of ways. Verbally every day you can tell her how much you appreciate her. But then also now and then being able to provide her with a gift of some sort, whether it be a spa certificate or a surprised paid day off or even just making sure you have benefits for them. A nanny who has benefits, such as a paid holiday or a paid vacation is going to stay with a family long term because they feel more valued as a professional. They feel respected. And they have that consistency to rely on. They feel safe and secure in their job.
