I was a nanny before I became a mom. So when I have my first child I thought I would know everything. I had spent so much time with kids including doing overnight and taking them to places. And then when I had my child I was like, they take naps? I don't remember giving naps. There were so many things I didn't remember. So this is my perspective now that I hire babysitters. I realized you have to be very specific. Tell them everything you want. They don't know that your child sleeps with the light's half on or the door a little bit ajar. If you want them to clear the dinner table and wash those dishes and put them away, spell it all out because when you come at the end of the night and you pay someone you don't want to feel disappointed that they didn't do all these things that you never told them to do to begin with because you'll just blame yourself for not having shared exactly what you expect. So you really have to make a list and re-use it every time you hire the babysitter. What do you want them to have for dinner and what should they do afterwards. Spell it all out so you won't be disappointed.
