One of the ways that you can avoid power struggles with your children is to make sure that you give them lots of choices upfront; choices that you are fine with the outcome of either way. You can ask them, "Would you like to have your dessert before or after your bath?" And in giving them that choice and that power, then they're gonna answer you, "Hmm, I'll take the bath first and then have dessert." And you got your bath in.
