Generally, when kids misbehave, traditionally, we set out to punish them; so they don't do that again. A more effective way of disciplining kids, is teaching restitution. Restitution means, that when I've done something hurtful or when I broke something, I make it up to them. Not because I'm being punished or being forced, but because it's the right thing to do. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to break that vase. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Restitution is a really great way of empowering kids and teaching them to be compassionate, responsible, and caring individuals.
