Clomid is an agent that's been used for, probably, 40 years to treat couples with unexplained infertility. When you say unexplained, I mean, when the sperm count is normal, the x-ray of the anatomy for the woman is normal, then you focus on; How well is this woman ovulating? She may be having periods every month, but the quality of that ovulation may not be optimal. Clomid is kind of a weak estrogen. It's been used for years. It tricks the brain into putting out more follicles, stimulating hormone, which then tricks the follicles in the ovary. It's, essentially, a higher quality ovulation. Clomid is pretty safe because twinning rates are, maybe, 8 percent, compared to 2 percent of the population. It's been used for years. There's no breast cancer or ovary cancer or birth defects for the kids. It's a very safe agent.
