I think there’s tremendous amount of studies looking at the offspring and even the second generation of offspring of women who have taken these drugs and become pregnant. I think that there is really good information that they don’t cause breast cancer, ovarian cancer or uterine cancer, so they’re safe in that way. In the immediate sense, there are some women who are… have side effects: mood swings, sometimes hot flashes with Clomid. They tend to be fairly mild. But some women just after one cycle says, “Nah, I’m not taking that one again.” You can switch to the other agent and they generally tolerate that much better. Injectible FSH really only stimulates the ovary. It’s very natural. Clomid tends to be an estrogen and it’s synthetic and has more side effects. But in terms of long-term safety for the… both the fetus and the mother, they seem to be very safe.
