I have two boys. Both of my childbirth experiences were slightly different, but unique and wonderful in their own way. I trusted my OB/GYN and when he recommended that I get a little more comfortable when having an epidural, I was a little nervous, but so glad that I took them on as recommendation. It would really allow me to be able to focus on the joy of bringing my new baby into this world, to be able to push and to be able to make decisions as the baby was coming out. Afterwards, I wasn’t in too much pain. I was able to immediately nurse my baby, bond with him and spend a lot of time. Most of the time, if pain medication including an epidural is administered by an anesthesiologist or an OB/GYN, it’s very safe for the baby. Trust your doctors, trust them about your options, but there is no reason why you need to be in excruciating pain to enjoy childbirth.
