Barbara Andrade Dubransky, previously Director of Program Development, will now serve as Director of Families. Dubransky and her team will manage the Families grants and programs portfolio, and will serve as a critical thought leader on evidence-based practices and models of home visitation, parent engagement, and related strategies that increase family protective factors.Barbara has developed and implemented many of First 5 LA’s programs and initiatives. A First 5 LA employee since 2000, Barbara was the primary architect of Best Start and led the launch and early implementation of Best Start’s home visiting components, including Welcome Baby.Barbara earned a bachelor's degree in social work from Azusa Pacific University's School of Education and Behavioral Studies. . While completing her Master's in Social Welfare at UCLA’s School of Public Policy and Social Research, Barbara worked as a human resources manager at a private firm. Before coming to First 5 LA, Barbara worked in foster care, adult mental health, Healthy Start and staffed the California Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
