So I think the issue of ADHD diagnosis and medication, whether or not to medicate, is really complicated and we try to simplify it but it's not simple, and it has to do with socioeconomic issues, it has to do with where the level of education of any give school system, and of the parents in that school system, so that you're gonna see disparities, you're gonna see something different happening in high-achieving communities that you may not see in your sort of, your more average, in this case American environment or community.
Problem with ADD and ADHD Diagnoisis in Schools
But the complication is that the school systems aren't designed to diagnose ADHD. The process in the school system and the involvement of the psychologists in the school system, it's about identifying eligibility for services. And so that's a very different operation and outcome that they're looking for than when a parent is trying to figure out what's going on with my child. And to really assess thoroughly and completely what's going on with your child, it requires a private evaluation, which can be extremely expensive and cumbersome, and not necessarily available in all communities. Right, you're gonna find it easily in the big cities, it's gonna be a lot harder to find in the flyover.
