Research has shown that shyness can come out of a fixed mindset. In a fixed mindset, you are afraid that people are going to judge you if you say the wrong things, a silly thing, a stupid thing. They are going to judge you. If you go into a situation like that, you are going to feel timid and nervous. What should you do? You should tell your child that being in social situations is a way to have fun. It's a way to learn about other people. Ask them questions. Tell about yourself, they will be delighted to interact with you. Tell them to learn new things in these social situations so that the focus won't be on being judged, it will be on learning.
