Somehow as a society, we all think we want to be popular, that that's the most important thing in the world. Guess what? It's not. Here's the thing. Yes, you want your kids to have friends. And especially as tweens, they're beginning to solidify those friendships. But if they have one or two kids who they hang out with, that's wonderful. Let them gravitate to the kids they feel most comfortable with. if you or even they push themselves to be friends with the most popular kids, chances are they could wind up feeling more insecure because they are not with the kids who are most like them. And frankly, popularity comes with a price. You could have kids who talk about you. You could have kids who say nasty things about you. So let your child feel most comfortable with who it is they want to be with.
