The time you should transition your toddler into his own bed if he is bed sharing with you is around two and a half. That's because you want them to be mature enough to handle the responsibility of being in his own bed. It's a lot of responsibility; putting themselves to bed, staying in bed, making sure they don't come out in the middle of the night. You want to make sure they are mature enough to do that. Any time after two is good. Closer to two and a half or three is even better. The easiest way to do that is the gradual retreat process. You go and lay down with them in their own bed, you move the chair, you move the chair closer to the door. That will take around two weeks on average, but it could take a little longer depending on your child.
