When both my kids were born - when I was pregnant with each child, before I gave birth, I assigned my friend and my family members certain roles to take on during the birth, and when we first came home with the baby. That way, my husband and I didn't feel overwhelmed with too many people coming to the hospital or being in our house. We really set up for success, a very serene transition between the hospital and coming home with the baby. So I asked 1 friend to take pictures. I asked another friend to do video. And then, I asked another friend to make sure that my husband was well fed during the birth period. Also, when we got home, I asked my Mom. I said, "Mom, you're awesome at cooking. Will you take care of the meals?" Well, my husband and I really got into this new rhythm of having a newborn at home. We had this time that was created, intentionally, for us to find that new rhythm as a young family.
