Whoo, there is nothing more challenging than getting a child to sit still while you're washing their hair, but it is possible. I promise. You know, the biggest thing that you have to remember is that when you're washing a toddler's hair there's water going everywhere, there's chances that soap might go into their eyes. The key is to distract. It's too get the really sweet smelling shampoo that they really love and want to smell; mmm, and turn it into a spa date. We're going to have a spa date. Mommy is going to lay you back and get your hair done. The biggest tip that I got from my hairdresser on how to get my daughter to be okay with getting her hair washed was to turn it into a spa date. Lay her across the counter where the kitchen sink is and let her lean her head back into the sink, instead of sitting her in a bathtub and pouring water in her hair and so it gets all in her face. You lay her across the counter and let her hair go back into the sink and then it feels like a spa. You have the really sweet, you know, yummy smelling strawberry shampoo and you're washing, and you're talking, maybe put a little music on and it turns into a pleasurable experience instead of, oh, my God, I have soap in my eyes mommy. I'm going to die. I'm going to die. You don't want that. So it really does help to turn it into this sort of spa thing for them.
