I think I found much more support in the community as a breast feeder. Everyone around us seems to be very pro-breastfeeding. No one doubted us ever. I was generally met with support and praise for breastfeeding for any amount of time. With formula feeding, I have been questioned numerous times and have had to give explanations as to why I am formula feeding. It's been very hard having people questioning that, wondering the reasons why I might have chosen to formula feed. It might not be a choice at all. Even if it is a choice to formula feed, I don't know that it is anyone's business to critique that when they don't know the story or anything behind the formula feeding or breastfeeding. There is no way that it is anyone's business other than the initial family unit. Whatever is best for the mother is whatever will make her proud and confident that she is doing what is best for the baby.
