Often as parents we find that our partner does not have the same parenting style that we have, or the same approach to resolving a problem that I may have. That presents a real challenge. Again, communication and teamwork is critical. But when it comes to this, it often creates tension between the partners. And you have to sit down and talk honestly and fairly with each other about what you agree and disagree on. The hardest thing to do is listen in that circumstances. And listening will help you and your partner understand what your strengths are in parenting and what your partner's strengths are. And you have to be willing to step up when a situation arises when you know your partner is weak in responding to that situation. And your partner has to realize that the reason you're stepping up is because their reaction may not be a positive one at that time. It's communication. It's teamwork. And it's honestly evaluating what you can do effectively as a parent and what you don't do effectively as a parent.
