The biggest difference about having kids in my forties is just life experience. Things don't have the importance that they used to when you're in your twenties. The two-year old tantrum in the middle of Target, I could care less. It just doesn't seem to matter as much. You have better perspective and more patience because you realize that it's not that big of a deal. The little things don't matter as much.

Gioconda Aviles, 45, is a mother of six: Four boys, ages 23, 21,19, and 17 from her first marriage, and twin girls, ages 2 ½, from her second. She had her first child at 22 and her last two at 42.
