Today's parents seemed to be the most stressed of all time. Why is that? I heard a pediatrician this last week say to a group of parents in our expectant parents class that she believes it is because of all of the information that is available to us from many sources. It seems like open season on pregnant people to just give them advice all the time. So, you have to know that some of that information out there is conflicting so it's very confusing to parents. So first things first, find the resource that really resonates with you and works for you and look at who the people are that are providing that information. Are they truly experts in the field? I found finding a close friend who I respected how she is raising her children. Could be your Pediatrician, could be your Mother, could be someone at your Mommy and Me group or someone like us that's providing information. Then also look at book resources. When I had my first baby, Spock was the "Man of the Day" and although he had a lot of good information I didn't philosophically line up with him. So, I went on looking for another source and I found T. Berry Brazelton and his advice worked beautifully for me. So make sure you seek the advice that resonates with you the best and that feels right to you because if something doesn't feel right, it isn't right.
