So my ultimate piece of parenting advice is to remember that you're trying to raise a healthy, happy, independent adult. This is the end game, so all of the llttle decisions that kind of frazzle us all on a day to day basis, they can kind of be quelled when you think about, what is my ultimate goal? And thinking about, "Oh, gosh, my kid had too much juice today," the feeling that we all get, if you just remember that you're trying to raise an independent adult, those little things don't matter so much.
One of the other things you have to keep in mind is that to gain that independence, your child needs to practice. And letting them make mistakes or doing things differently from the way you would do them yourself is really important, because they can't grow up to be independent if they don't get a chance to practice that. So I just try to remember, what is my end goal here? And let that kind of be the theme for making those day to day decisions.
