The golden nugget mothering advice I have is to keep this phrase in mind – “This too shall pass.” And I use it for challenging times and I also use it for wonderful times.
So for challenging times, when a baby was crying and I thought, “This is never going to end,” I remembered, “This too shall pass.” Or if a tantrum is happening and I thought, “This has to stop,” I just remembered, “This too shall pass.”
And then also for the really wonderful, blissful times of parenting, when I’m so in love with the child, I think, “This too shall pass,” and it reminds me to stay even more present, more in the moment and really, really relish these sweet good times.
