If your child has split their lip the first thing you to do is try to stop the bleeding. You do that by applying pressure, sometimes like pushing it up against the teeth or the jaw can help with this or with by using something cold like ice pack or a cold wet towel. Reasons to see your doctor would be if you can't stop the bleeding, if the cut very deep or deeping or involve the border between the lip and the rest of the skin also puncture wound that go from the outside all the way to the inside on the mouth might need to be repaired.
