Transcription:
Laughing gas is used in pediatric dental offices basically to alleviate the anxiety of a child. It's a combination of nitrous oxide and oxygen gas that's titrated in safe quantities based on the child's weight. Laughing gas is best used when a child is cooperative, but anxious, possibly uncomfortable with sensory sounds, the stimulation of the drill in the mouth, or anything that could bother the child. However, laughing gas isn't for everyone, and it's best to discuss if your child is the right fit for laughing gas, depending on - are they combative in a chair? Are they cooperative? Are they more scared, or are they just uncooperative? There's a lot of factors. You should also discuss your child's pediatric history with your dentist prior to scheduling an appointment using laughing gas.
