My main tip to shop waste-free is to be organized.
I personally have found a system that works for me. That includes having three shopping totes. You don't need to have twenty of them, you just need to have a few that you know will fill your families needs. In my case, it's three large totes. I bring glass jars to the store, and I bring cloth bags. Throughout the week, my jars get empty, I put them in a large tote in the kitchen.
When I'm ready to go to the grocery store, I grab my tote with all the glass jars and my grocery list and errands list.
