Well, the problem with genetically modified foods is that they really increase the amount of pesticides and herbicides that we're using. You won't see that from the patent holders, the big companies who sell them and produce them, but the number one trait that has been genetically engineered into food is to make them tolerant of herbicides. So now you can grow corn and put as much herbicide as you want. And that result of that is 60 to 100 percent of rainwater samples in the midwest now contain glysophate, which is a toxic herbicide. Even worse than that, these, the overuse of these herbicides has now led to more and more crops becoming weeds, becoming pesticide resistant, which now means that we're using even stronger and stronger herbicides. So a parent who wants to preserve or avoid their child being exposed to preserve the health of their child or avoid the child being exposed to toxic herbicides does not want to buy foods that contain genetically engineered foods because we don't want this many herbicides being used, period. Having it on the label whether it food contains genetically engineered ingredients or not gives us all the choice whether we want to support a system creates and puts more herbicides out there or not.
