As a Rabbi, I'm asked all the time, "How do you achieve balance?" I'm writing; I'm on TV; and I'm parenting my four kids.
I have to remind myself that balance is not about every day achieving a perfect balance with each of my kids, like getting fifteen minutes with each of them. It's about looking at the whole picture. It's about looking at the whole week and saying, did I spread my time in a way that effectively helped parent my children?
It's the same way you eat, right? Every day you don't eat perfectly. There's no day that's a perfect day, but on the whole, do you eat healthy? Think of yourself as having balance 80 percent of the time.
