So my daughters are now 23 and 25, but the challenges never stop. And both my daughters went through eating disorders. My older daughter, as I write in Thrive, because she wanted to go and speak about it herself, got involved in drugs in her senior year at Yale. And that was one of the toughest things I went through as a mom, getting that call that every parent dreads. Mommy, I can’t breathe. The drive from NY to New Haven to pick her up in the emergency room. But even during that time what helped me get through it and be a better mom to her during that difficult period of recovery was focusing on what I was grateful for. That I was grateful she was alive, grateful she had reached out to me, grateful she had a loving family to rally around her. So I feel in the end, even during these challenging times, if we can focus on our gratitude, and tap into our own inner resources, we are better equipped at dealing with them.
